"Human Capital Stock" is a product parody of Kroger store brand Kitchen Basics' Chicken Stock. It's the very first of my product parodies. The inspiration for this one came during covid lockdown in 2020. I was watching the news and some finance guy called people dying from covid a "loss of human capital stock." That phrase stuck in my head. It sounded so utterly cannibalistic and devoid of humanity. So I did an art about it.
It reads: All Unnatural. Exploitation Basics (heartbreaking). Human Capital Stock (for exploiting). Good source of labor! No rights added; Justice free! Infinite Suffering, 0 autonomy, 1.25 trillion in student debt, less than 7% of total wealth.Â
The weight at the bottom is my very rough attempt to calculate the 'biomass' of the working class. It might not be entirely accurate; I'm an artist, not a mathematician. But yeah, we weigh somewhere in the neighborhood of 300 million tons and that's way more than the 80 billionaires that control 90% of the world's wealth.
All my prints are printed on high quality heavy cardstock. They ship in a protective plastic sleeve to make sure they get to their destination in pristine condition.Â
